Edge

During a yoga practice, you may notice your teacher asking you to find that sweet spot between effort and ease... to find your edge. Cultivating the ability to hold these two sensations simultaneously can lead to a feeling of secure expansion. Using our breath and our connection to the earth to feel grounded and safe we are able to make room for the discomfort that comes with holding a challenging pose. We can practice this same technique when in comes to holding challenging emotions. The safety of the therapeutic relationship and the security of our breath can create ease as we move towards the edges of experiences such as anxiety, shame, sadness, grief, anger or confusion. Through mindful repeated contact with our discomfort we get to send ourselves a new message, one that says, "I can have this, I can handle this." We get to expand who we are.

Finding our edge gives us room to take in the whole picture
